Benue Police Confirms 17 Killed In Herdsmen Attack In Sankera

Benue State Police Authority has confirmed the death of seventeen persons killed by armed herdsmen in sankera axis of the state after invading the communities this Friday morning.

Police says the suspected militia which came in their large number invaded Gbagir in Ukum local government area and killed five persons and also went to Logo local government where twelve persons were also killed by the assailants.

CP Steven Yabanet, State commissioner of Police, had ordered tactical team to move to the area to join forces with police officers on ground and security agencies to repel the attackers.

In a statement released by Catherine Anene, command public relations officer stated that the team of officers are still engaging the bandits as they retreat into the forest around TARABA axis.

The Commissioner of Police however warns social media users that are reporting unconfirmed reports and inciting the general public to desist from such actions that are capable of creating unnecessary tension in the state.

He reiterates his commitment to fight the attackers and encourage the good people of Sankera to continue to cooperate with the police as the operation is ongoing.
