Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State has directed security agents to carry out thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to the recent attacks on the people of Oso Edda, in Edda Local Government Area of the State.
A statement by Monday Uzor, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, describes the attack as barbaric and flagrant disregard to the sanctity of human life.
It further notes, ” I received with rude shock the news of the recent attack on Oso Edda which claimed lives and led to destruction of property. This act of callousness is a direct affront to our commitment to restoring peace in our communities and we cannot tolerate it. ” The Governor warned.
” As a government the security of lives and property of our people is of utmost importance and no effort will be spared to get to the root of the matter.”
The statement adds that the government is collaborating with law enforcement agents to fish out the perpetrators, while appealing to the affected community not to engage in reprisals.
The Governor therefore directed law enforcement agents to take swift action and mobilize fully to the area to forestall reoccurrence or reprisals
“My prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in the unfortunate incident and rest assured that they will not be left alone.”
The Governor called on communities in the state to always embrace peace as no development will thrive in an atmosphere of violence and destruction.
