The ongoing crackdown against oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region has led to the uncovering of five hundred and ninety one liters of stolen products in Rivers and Bayelsa state.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, Acting Deputy Director of the six division Nigerian Army public relations disclosed this in a statement, said several operations were conducted with remarkable success at Abua local government area of Rivers state leading to the discovery of illegal refining sites with metal tanks loaded with thousands of liters of illegally refined Automotive Gasoline Oil.

According to him, large dug out pits and ovens were also discovered including pumping machines used in the illegal act.
In Bayelsa state, three suspects were also Intercepted with a Tanker truck and a Rivers registration number loaded with forty five thousand liters of stolen AGO after tampering with oil facilities in the creeks of Southern Ijaw local government area of the state.
Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding six division Nigerian Army Major General Emmanuel Emekah has promised to intensify the fight against oil theft and bring perpetrators and sponsors to book.
