Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six people abducted by suspected terrorists in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims were recovered on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following intelligence about the presence of suspected terrorists around Mehinua Village, along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to Danja, troops immediately moved to the area after receiving the intelligence and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle.
He said the terrorists were overpowered and forced to retreat, abandoning the six victims in the process.
Danja stated that all the victims were rescued safely, while the vehicle associated with the incident was also recovered by the troops.
He added that the victims and the recovered vehicle were subsequently handed over to the relevant community authorities for further action.
The latest operation comes as security forces intensify efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and rescue kidnapped persons in the North-West.
