Thousands of Nigerian youths have taken to the streets in protest, accusing the Corporate Affairs Commission of misconduct and illegal actions against the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

The tensions escalated following the withdrawal of the Council’s certificate by the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Magaji, a move the protesters described as unlawful and politically motivated.
Over 3,000 youths gathered to voice their outrage, alleging that the Registrar General not only acted without legal backing, but also accepted bribes to undermine the Council’s operations leading to the pulling out of the council from the CAC portal.
Protesters further accused the Registrar General, of working against the President’s renewed hope agenda.
They are now demanding his immediate removal, vowing to sustain peaceful protests across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for the next 30 days.
According to the protesters, this demonstration is not only about leadership but also about ending what they call “impunity and lawlessness” within the Commission. They alleged that key appointments in CAC are being made without due process.
They also cited a pending suit at the Court of Appeal, as well as a Federal High Court ruling which stated that the CAC has no authority to delist the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
They group also criticized the Registrar General for breaching professional and legal standards-insisting that such actions undermine the rule of law and must be addressed urgently.
They are calling for immediate intervention of the federal government to restore order, uphold legal judgments, and protect the legitimacy of the National Council of Nigeria.
