Reps To Probe Non Functionality Of Government Owned Refineries

By Ikugbadi Oluwasegun

The House of Representatives resolved to probe the persistent non-functionality of Nigeria’s state-owned refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna, despite over two decades of rehabilitation efforts and an estimated $18 billion reportedly spent on turnaround maintenance.

The decision followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan

The Green Chambers also mandated its Committee on Basic Education and Examination Bodies to investigate the budget performance, internally generated revenue (IGR), and alleged virement implementation by the National Examinations Council (NECO) from 2023 to 2025.

The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, who expressed concern over reports that NECO may have implemented virements without the required legislative approval.
