The management of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has urged students to take advantage of the students loan scheme by the federal government.

The management asked indigent students to apply for the student loan because the there will be no provision for students who can’t pay their school fees in the next academic session.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by Professor Musa Obaola, Dean of Students Affairs of Unilag, which states, “This is to notify students of the University of Lagos that application for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) by the Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced.

“Interested students who wish to leverage on this opportunity are encouraged to apply immediately.  The purpose of the loan is to give equal access to higher education for all eligible candidates and to reduce financial stress on students and families. It will also enable successful applicants to have some stipend during the academic session.

“During the 2023/2024 academic session, the University of Lagos Management magnanimously acceded to the financial request of indigent students and assisted those who could not afford to pay (part/full) their obligatory fees.

“Please note that there will be no provision of such arrangement from the 2024/2025 academic session.”
