To many, 2020 would not be forgotten in a hurry as it was a year full of ups and down in many ramifications. Here is a review of happenings in the year
January
In January, bomb blast at Gamboru in Borno killed over 30 people and injured many others. The news of gunmen raising homes in Twari, Kogi State end up killing 19 people while Lassa fever outbreak also shook and killed at least 29 people in some part of Nigeria.
Also earlier in the year, the Federal Government condemned attempts by South West Governors to float Amotekun and described it as illegal followed by Burna Boy losing the World Music Album award to Angela Kidjo, a Beninese singer and song writer with close tie with Nigeria.
As the month winds up, the United State President includes Nigeria in the travel ban and dollars began to rise from 359 up-till what is now.
February
The International noise on Corona virus began to rise uncontrollably and Nigeria refused to lock its bother against countries with high cases while Nigeria reported the first case of an Italian man in Lagos.
The corona virus led to the National Hajj Commission directed Umrah pilgrims to stay action on airlifting intending pilgrims as a result of Corona virus.
Lagos State Government banned commercial motorcycles on all routes and this led to lot of protests and arrests.
There were weather issues and some international flights scheduled to land in Muritala Airport in Lagos were diverted to Kotoka Airport in Ghana. Independent Electoral Commission de-registered over 70 Political parties in the country which raised lot of noise across the country.
The fight between Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed who was reported to have punched another monarch during a peace meeting.
March
The Emir Sanusi II was deposed
There was an explosion at Abule Odo in Lagos State that killed over 15 people and destroyed many buildings
Academic Staff Union of Universities issued a 2 weeks warning Strike which later got prolonged till 22nd of December that it was suspended. It was a damn over 9 month Strike. One of the longest in its series.
President Muhammadu Buhari announces lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja and national restrictions
April
Nigeria lost a prominent personality in President Muhammed Buhari, Alh Abbah Kyari to death as a result of COVID 19
May
Nigeria eases lockdown in affected areas with other stringent measures.
Nigeria lost Vera Uwaila Omosuwa who was 22 and a student of Microbiology wh went to churh to read in Edo and was raped and brutally assaulted. She died two days later and this led to #justiceforUWA
June
The Court of Appeal affirmed the suspension of Adams Oshiomomole as the national Chairman of APC and the party set up a caretaker committee convention panning led by Governpr of Yobe,Mai bala Bunni
Governor Obaseki of Edo was disqualified from contesting under APc and he decamped to the PdP
US-based streaming company Netflix paired up with film maker, Mo abudu owner of Ebony Tv to create two new series and several films.
JULY

President Buhari suspended Magu as Acting EFCC chair
The first female Combat Helicopter pilot of the Nigeria Airforce(NAF) Tolu Arotile died in a road accident at the NAF base, kaduna and died.
The Acting MD of the NDDC, Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei fainted during investigative hearing at the national Assembly
August
Akinwunmi Adesina was re-elected for another five year terms at the Africa Development bank
September
INEC declared Godwin Obaseki of the Pdp as the winner of the Edo State Governorship election. He defeated his closest rival
Laycon won the Big Brother Nigeria with lot of Support.
October
Nigeria Commemorated 60th Anniversary in low-key
#ENDSARs protest hit the streets of Lagos and extended to other part of the country. It led to vandalisation of properties in Lagos, Ibadan, Ondo, Ogun, Kwara, Abuja and other parts of the country.
Lot of warehouses was looted round the country and youths also stole motorcycle and other things at Ibadan, house of a politician.
US refused to back Ngozi Okonjo-iweal as WTO DG
There were was Lekki massacre on October 20, 2020. It shook the world and lots of street walk and protest started internationally.
President Buhari finally addressed the Nation on Endsars protest
November
Boko haram insurgents killed over 76 rice farmers in Zabamari village, a rice farming in Jere Local Government area of Borno
Akeredolu won re-election in Ondo State
December
APC Abiru wins by-election in Lagos again despite #Sorosoke Generation anger.
Over 300 School boys were abducted at Kankara, Government Secondary School, Katsina State.
Kankara boys were later released
ASUU finally called off its over 9 month strike conditionally.
Nigeria brought new directives on NIN
FG reopened four land borders with a promise to reopen others before December 31
Government announced and imposes measures to stem covid-19 second wave.
