A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), identified as Yahya Faruq, has been declared missing in Rivers State.
It was learnt that Faruq who serves at Mixed Secondary School, Ikuru Town, Adoni Local Government of Rivers State, was last seen on Monday, October 14, 2024, after reporting for his shift at his part-time workplace, LDM Chinese Milling Company in Ikuru Town.
It was gathered that the corps member signed in for work at the Chinese company, but never signed out, leaving behind his belongings, including his bag and phone.
Family and friends are seeking assistance regarding his “sudden and mysterious disappearance”.
A statement issued by Edo Central Area Council of Muslim Students’ Society Of Nigeria (MSSN) and obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, confirmed the incident.
The statement jointly signed by Ismaila Aliu (Ameer) and Muhammad Jamiu Aregameh (General Secretary), appealed to relevant authorities to intervene in the search for the missing corps member.
The statement read, “We are devastated, and heartbroken to announce the sudden and mysterious disappearance of our beloved brother, Yahya Faruq, a dedicated corps member serving at Mixed Secondary School, Ikuru Town, Adoni local Government, Rivers State.
“Last Seen: Monday, 14th October 2024 Part-Time Workplace: LDM Chinese Milling Company, Ikuru Town, Adoni local Government, Rivers State.
“The alarming fact is that he signed in for his shift but did not sign out, leaving behind: A trail of unanswered questions, unbearable anxiety for his family, friends, and colleagues and a gaping void in our lives.
“Adding to our distress, LDM Chinese Milling Company returned his bag and phone to his Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), Mixed Secondary School, Ikuru Town, Adoni local Government, Rivers State, fueling our fears and deepening the mystery.
“We desperately seek your assistance, prayers, and empathy to locate our dear brother and ensure his safe return. Every passing moment is agonizing, and we urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and help us unravel the mystery surrounding his disappearance.
“We appeal to: 1. LDM Chinese Milling Company management and staff; 2. Ikuru Town community members; 3. Andoni Local Government authorities; 4. Rivers State law enforcement agencies; 5. National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) authorities; 6. Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
“In this excruciating time, we implore the community to stand with us, seeking justice and truth. Faruq’s disappearance has left an irreparable void in our lives.
“We cannot rest until he is back home, safe and sound. If you have any information, please contact us immediately.”
