Over eight people has been killed during a communal clash between Ilobu community in Irepodun Council and Ifon, headquarters of Orolu local government area of Osun State over land dispute.
The Divisional Police Officer of Ilobu community was shot with three operatives during patrol while arsonists who alleged the police were taking side in the clash razed the security van.
There was heavy security operatives sighted at Ojutu bridge while residents of the two communities fled their homes through Okini Communities.
Security operatives also evacuated serving Corps members numbering about 30 were evacuated from the communities.
Osun police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the four policemen, including DPO who were shot are responding to treatment in hospital.
Governor Ademola Adeleke,had during a town hall meeting in Osogbo capital of Osun State, announced the disputed land has been taken over by government.
He said: “I have given a directive that nobody should be seen on the disputed land. Anybody they see there should be arrested and prosecuted. The state government has taken over the disputed land.
“The kings and leaders should come together. If government takes over all your land, you will know.
“I have informed the Chief of Army Staff who hails from Ilobu and he has given a standing order to soldiers to be in charge.”
