Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye,General Overseer,Redeemed Christian Church of God,(RCCG) has cleared air of why he declined to be general overseer at first.
He said growing up,he had known poverty and after striving to get a degree,he had promised himself not to be poor again.
The cleric said that God has been faithful in the 40 years journey since he became the General overseer.
The cleric who said he declined the general overseer position offered to him by the founder of RCCG,Papa Josiah Akindayomi by writing a letter to the founder to reject the gesture of becoming a General Overseer at a time he was fast rising in his career as a lecturer but here I am today.
He said his witness was Pastor Kuo who read the content of the letter to baba Akindayomi since baba couldnt read or write except the bible.
Adeboye admonished Nigerians not to be bothered about anything saying the almighty God has promised to take our worries away.
Adeboye made this disclosure during february Thanksgiving service saying the journey won’t have been easy if not for the support of his wife who stood by him all the time.
Fondly called Daddy GO said people often prefer to meet mummy GO than come to him since they know that would quicken their request.
Adeboye who recounts the journey as tough said the covenant God had with the founder of the church also made things much easier.
“Daddy GO” who noted that he moved in to a one room apartment in Mushin when he assumed the position of General Overseer in 1981 and prayed to God for a 3 two-bedroom flat so it can house him,his children and a guest room but today,God has given him a city.
Pastor Adeboye said he had no choice than to remain grateful to God for taking care of him as promised.
God told me:”dont be afraid,I will take care of you”.
Adeboye further stressed during the sermon that:the more you love God, the more He corrects you.
The closer you get to God, the stricter he becomes.
