The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a certificate to Solomon Bassey Daniel, a prospective corps member who was kidnapped and held captive for over a year.

This was announced by Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Director-General of NYSC, during a press conference.

Solomon Bassey was among eight prospective corps members kidnapped on August 17, 2023, in Zamfara while travelling from Uyo to Sokoto for their orientation program.

He was the last to be rescued on August 22, 2024.

When asked if Solomon Bassey would be required to repeat the service year, the DG replied, “He has already gone through the service year. What service year is more than one year in the jungle? He is qualified for the certificate.”
