OGUN YOUTH COUNCIL ELECTION: OGUN CENTRAL LEADERS, STAKEHOLDERS ENDORSE SHOREMI, OTHERS

The Leaders and Stakeholders of Ogun Central Senatorial District of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has endorsed Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi and five other aspirants as the first Batch of their Candidates to represent the interest of Ogun Central Senatorial District at the forthcoming Congress of the Youth Council slated for Saturday October 28, 2023.

At the first Stakeholder’s meeting held on 24th of August 2023, the meeting agreed on the need to constitute a Screening Committee to evaluate the potentials and capacity of intending Candidates, whereat the Screening Committee earlier interviewed all Aspirants on Saturday September 16, 2023. Chairman of the Committe was Dr. Tola Adenekan, former State Chairman and National PRO of National Youth Council of Nigeria while members of the Committee includes Dr. Adekunle Adewale (State Vice—Chairman, Ogun Central Senatorial District), Mrs. Alaba Kusimo (former Coordinator of Abeokuta North Local Government), Com. Bolaji Sulaimon (former Coordinator for Abeokuta North Local Government),and Com. Benjamin Oluwemimo (former Coordinator of Obafemi Owode Local Government).

At a Stakeholders’ Meeting held today Saturday September 23, 2023 to present the result of the Screening Committee for aspirants from the senatorial district, the Presiding Officer of the Meeting — Dr. Tola Adenekan reeled out the criterion for the screening process as another member of the Committee, Com. Bolaji Sulaimon read out the results of the screening based on this criterion.

The current State Secretary of the Youth Council, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi of the Red Cross Society however emerged as the candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District with a grade of 36 marks against the Coordinator of Abeokuta North Local Government, Com. Emmanuel Ojo who scored 30 marks.

Other candidates endorsed to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District includes Com. Kehinde Ademuyiwa of the Royal Ambassador as Deputy Secretary, Com. Adetutu Babatunde of NYNETHA as Financial Secretary, Com. Akeem Dare of NYCN Ifo Local Government branch as Legal Adviser, Com. Anuoluwapo Yusuf of the Scout Association of Nigeria as Organizing Secretary, and Com. Olukayode Dahunsi of the African Youth church Association as Assistant Programmes Officer. Two other Candidates are also to be added to the list of Candidates in the nearest few days.

Following the motion for endorsement of the Candidates as moved by Com. Azeez Arisekola and seconded by Com. Ademola Sogogreat, the Chairmanship Candidate for the Senatorial District, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi who spoke on behalf of other Candidates applauded the Leaders and Stakeholders through the Screening Committee for the due diligence employed in the resolution unanimously agreed upon by everyone. “This is an historic event in the history of our senatorial district, and it is obviously a remarkable development towards building the future of Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ogun State and Nigeria at large,”

Aside the members of the Screening Committee, others present at the Stakeholders meeting included Com. Yinka Fasina (National Capacity Development Officer for the Nigerian Red Cross Society), Elder Adegoke Adekunle (Emeritus President for the Boys Brigade Nigeria), Rev. Bode Dahunsi, Mrs. Alaba Kusimo (former Coordinator for Abeokuta North Local Government), Com. Azeez Adegbite (former Deputy State Chairman NYCN), Com. Omowale Oyegunle (NYCN State Auditor), Com. Olumayowa Taiwo (State Organizing Secretary), Com. Farouq Shitta (Assistant Public Relations Officer), Com. Fatai Adesina, Com. Tajudeen Amuda, Com. Ademola Sogogreat, Com. Ajibola Adetoyinbo and other Stakeholders and Aspirants.
