Tribunal Validates Hope Uzodinma As Imo State Governor

By Yusuf Olukokun

The Tribunal sitting in Abuja over the Imo State Governorship Election Petition validated the victory of Hope Uzodinma on Friday, May 23rd 2024.

The validation of the electoral victory judgement was jointly declared by Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay’s three-man panel, after verifying that the State Governor followed the procedures or provisions of the Electoral acts.

Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay’s three-man panel therefore dismissed the petition filed by Labour Party and Athan Achonu, its Governorship candidate.

It should be recalled that Hope Uzodinma was declared as the Governor of Imo State after polling 504,308 votes under the political umbrella of All Progressives Congress in 2022.

Athan Achonu of Labour party came third with 64,081 and was disappointed with the results; alleging that there were illegal electoral practices, and he thereby prayed to the court to sack Hope Uzodinma.
