Oyo State Police Command has announced the rescue of four passengers abducted along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in Oyo on Wednesday following a swift joint security operation.

Ayanlade Olayinka, Oyo State Command spokesperson, in a statement, explained that some armed hoodlums allegedly emerged from a nearby bush and blocked the road, intercepting a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti to Kishi.

During the attack, four passengers were forcibly taken into the surrounding forest by the assailants while a joint security team comprising police operatives, personnel of the Amotekun Corps and Operation Burst, alongside other local security stakeholders, launched an intensive search of the surrounding forests, which mounted pressure on the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee

The four passengers were subsequently rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families, as the Police maintained that further bush-combing and intelligence-driven operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
