The Ogun State Police Command has unveiled comprehensive security operations to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The command stated that the initiative forms part of the state’s police proactive measures to maintain public order during the festive period.

In a statement issued on Monday, Ogun Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi reiterated that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts, and bangers remains strictly enforced.

“The loud sounds produced by these items can easily be mistaken for gunshots or explosions, often causing fear, panic, and unnecessary tension among residents,” the statement read.

The command instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and all tactical units to intensify patrols and increase police visibility across residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals, and major highways.

Parents and guardians were advised to caution their children and wards against the use of fireworks and other hazardous items.

“Anyone whose actions cause public disturbance, injury, or damage to property will be apprehended and prosecuted according to the law,” Babaseyi warned.

The Commissioner of Police has further urged residents to celebrate responsibly and cooperate fully with the Police and other security agencies.

Citizens are encouraged to use the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines, including the toll-free Gateway Shield number 0800 000 9111, and other emergency numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.

The command stressed that full deployment is part of a broader strategy to prevent crime, reduce traffic-related incidents, and ensure that festive activities are conducted in a safe and orderly manner
