Two buildings have collapsed at Lagos street Garki, Abuja in the early hours of Thursday.
According to reports, many people were injured and two persons died as a result of the incident. It was learnt that the building is fully occupied with people.
However, Excavation and rescue operation is still ongoing. Official information regarding the cause of the unfortunate incident is yet to be released.
At the moment officials of FCT Emergency Management Agency, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Fire Service, Fedral Road Safty Corps (FRSC) are putting efforts together to ensure the rescue and evacuation of more persons trapped under the collapsed building.
Dr. Abbass Idriss, Director-General of the Federal Emergency Management Authority,
on Thursday morning, said the 37 rescued persons had all been taken to various medical facilities in Abuja, and that rescue efforts were ongoing, in collaboration with other rescue agencies.
