After two weeks of waiting, the West African Examination Council, (WAEC) has finally released the result of the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination.
The delay was as a result of unrest, burning and violence across the country Associated with #EndSARS protesters.
According to the official calendar of the examination body, WAEC exam was written August 17,2020 and Saturday, September 12, and thee council was expected to release the results on October 27 which due to unforeseen circumstance, the release was postponed.
Parents, Guardian and candidates were earlier worried on the development as many private Universities had commenced admission.
Making the announcement at the WAEC head office in Lagos today, one million five hundred and fourty nine thousand seven hundred and fourty(1,549,740) candidates registered for the examination from 19,129 secondary schools comprising from both public and private schools.
Out of the total that sat for the examination, seven hundred and eighty thousands(780,660) were male while females represents 757,785 which statistics put at 50.47% and 49.26% respectively.
In total, one million six hundred and eighty(1,003,688) representing 65.24% obtained credit and above minimum of five (5) subjects which includes English and Mathematics.
