10 Ogun lawmakers move against Assembly leadership

Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, has called for calm following the move by some lawmakers to remove some principal officers of the House.

It was learnt that no fewer than 10 lawmakers have signed a document requesting for a change of leadership excluding the speaker.

The lamwakers in a letter dated 14th June, 2022 and addressed to the Speaker said the change of House leadership would allow other members rare privileges of leading the House and enhance their respective profiles.

The letter which was signed by over 10 aggrieved members and obtained on Saturday demanded change in leadership in position of Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader, Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader and Deputy Chief Whip.

The letter read partly, “We the under-listed Honourable members of the 9th Assembly, hereby demand for a change of Principal office holders of the House.

“This is to allow other members of the 9th Assembly for the rare privileges to also leading the House, and enhance their respective profiles for the remaining tenure of this 9th Assembly.”

Information at our disposal revealed that the Speaker, Hon Oluomo noted that he had intervened and three members had withdrawn their signature.

It is a family affair, we will settle it.
