West African leaders are converging on Lungi, Sierra Leone, for the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The summit is expected to focus on regional security, democratic governance, economic integration and sustainable development, as leaders deliberate on key decisions that will shape the future of the sub-region.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is being represented at the summit by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The meeting marks the climax of the ECOWAS Mid-Year Meetings hosted by Sierra Leone under the chairmanship of President Julius Maada Bio.
Heads of State and Government are expected to review the security situation across West Africa, strengthen regional cooperation, and adopt resolutions aimed at promoting trade, infrastructure development and economic growth.
The summit also provides an opportunity for leaders to reaffirm their commitment to democracy, peace, stability and regional integration amid evolving political and security challenges in the sub-region.
