The Delta State Police Command has impounded 21 vehicles during an intelligence-led enforcement operation aimed at curbing traffic violations and enhancing public safety across Abraka and Ozoro communities.
The operation, conducted on July 21, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations as part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to enforce traffic regulations and strengthen security across the state.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the enforcement patrol targeted motorists violating traffic laws and other related offences.
During the exercise, police operatives impounded 21 vehicles for offences including failure to display registration number plates, use of covered number plates and possession of expired vehicle documents.
The Command said the affected vehicles would undergo the appropriate legal and administrative procedures in line with existing laws.
Reacting to the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated that vehicles operating without proper identification or valid documentation constitute significant security risks.
He explained that such vehicles could easily be exploited by criminal elements to perpetrate crimes while evading detection by security agencies.
The police commissioner urged motorists to comply with all traffic regulations and ensure that their vehicles are properly registered with valid documentation at all times.
He warned that the Command would sustain intelligence-led enforcement operations across Delta State to promote public safety, strengthen security and ensure strict compliance with the law.
The Delta State Police Command also appealed to residents to support law enforcement efforts by complying with traffic regulations and reporting suspicious activities capable of threatening public safety.
