Ahead of 2023: Public sector leadership recruitment must come with well-defined job description, Pastor Tunde Bakare tells Nigerians

Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer, Citadel Global Community Church has advised Nigerians to start head hunting for the best hearts, heads and hands to place them in strategic roles if truly a new Nigeria is desired saying “everything rises and falls on leadership”.

Bakare disclosed this on Monday while delivering the 10th Elizade University Anniversary lecture topic: “Nigeria beyond 2023: Reversing the Human Capital Paradox” held at the University premises in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.

“From Federal to the local government, there must be well-defined job descriptions and performance evaluation indices for every position of public leadership. The Skill and behavioural competences required for every office must be clearly defined and given legislative backing”.

Pastor Bakare added that if his suggestions were taken into consideration, this will birth a leadership revolution of square pegs in ‘square holes’ and ‘round pegs in round holes’. 

The Clergyman presented 5 points agenda of human capital development for a new Nigeria by 2030 ranging from creation of a National human capital database; A “Glocal” Education Philosophy; Industry-academia linkage; A systematic Approach to healthcare delivery and Diaspora for developmental Agreements.

Pastor Bakare said the rapid decline in quality of public educational has led to the proliferation and growth of private universities  such as Elizade University which today is celebrating its founders day anniversary  while congratulating the Founder,Chief Micheal Ade-Ojo for a birthing such laudable vision.
