The Academic Staff Union of Universities,(ASUU) has insisted that the ongoing strike would not be suspended until the Government accede to its demand.

This was disclosed by Dr. Adelaja Odukoya, ASUU Coordinator,Lagos Zone during a press release held at the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Tuesday, 12 April, 2022, titled University Transparency and Accountability solution and the betrayal of the NITDA mandate.

“I want to inform the public that the current strike action would not be suspended until Government
addresses the adoption of UTAS, implement the renegotiated agreement, pay all outstanding allowances
-without prejudice to the donation of $1 million to Afghanistan and fulfil all other issues contained in the memorandum of action signed with the union”,he said.

Dr Adelaja Odukoya used the opportunity to call on well-meaning Nigerians to call on the Federal Government to question on the lingering industrial face-off.

Speaking further, he said the future of this
country lies in the hand of our educated youths and Government has the responsibilities to live up to the constitutional provision of educating all Nigerians.

Adelaja noted that: Our Country is currently bleeding with the activities of
bandits and terrorists simply because of lack of education saying the political class has continued to sow the seeds of
insecurity due to the criminal neglect of the education sector.

Comrade Adelaja noted that their is a deliberate misinformation of disinformation by the National Information Technology and Development Agencies (NITDA), on the state of the integrity and the adoption of the Transparency and accountability by the government which will be
rejected.

He listed the issues that necessitated the current strike action like the re-negotiation of the 2009 Federal government and ASUU agreement, payment platform in the universities, non-state universities, promotion of arrears and check off dues and the reward of white papers of visitation panels to Federal Universities has not been resolved.

ASUU insisted that their is deliberate act to prolong the ongoing strike, and the association has also advised the Federal Government not to allow itself to be misinformed through the incompetent management of the NITDA officers.

Odukoya emphasised that the current strike action would not be suspended until government addresses the implementation of the renegotiation agreement, pay all the outstanding allowance
