The Speaker of the house of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has launched AI-enabled healthcare services to improve access to medical care for persons with disabilities.
The programme, themed “Inclusive Health through Innovation: Bridging Disability and Technology,” was launched on his behalf by the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Power, Hon. Joshua Gana.

Abbas said artificial intelligence would help remove barriers faced by persons with disabilities in accessing healthcare. He commended TAF Africa and Koyo Health Tech for partnering on the initiative. He disclosed that 350 persons with disabilities are benefiting from the pilot phase through doctor-supervised, AI-driven health services delivered via the Koyo App.

The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Representatives to disability inclusion and announced plans to support healthcare subscriptions for up to 20 million persons with disabilities over the next five years. In his opening remarks, The Executive Director of The Albino Foundation Africa, Jake Ekpelle, called for sustained collaboration to improve access to quality healthcare for persons with disabilities in Nigeria.

He noted that the introduction of digital healthcare platforms, including mobile health applications, would improve access to qualified medical professionals and quality health services, especially for underserved communities.
