The Death of Deacon Gameliel Onosode came to me as a shock due to my little interaction with him while he was alive. Sometimes around April 2012,I have pushed all effort to interview the pro-Chancellor University of Lagos for my final year project which effort proved abortive but I kept pressing on. The Acting Vice-Chancellor,Prof. Rahaman Bello called me to inform me that the late Onosode had booked me for Wed by 10am. I was happy and started all preparation. Early on Wednesday Morning, the Acting VC called me to remind for 10am and he said failure to get their before that 10am might lead to the cancellation of the interview. At that time,I was working on University of Lagos at 50: An enduring legacy.
I got to baba’s house, fondly called by Prof Bello at exactly 10am and came to the secretary to confirm if he
was around. He ushered me into his office. On getting into his office,I dropped my handkerchief on his table and Deacon Onosode shouted,’ you don’t put something on jut any table”. I swiftly replied,am sorry sir. We had a nice interview for 45minutes and after which we discussed at length. Deacon Onosode is a corporate man to the core, principled, amiable, friendly ,focused and God fearing. Adieu Sir
