COMMUNITY POLICING: IGP EGBETOKUN VISIT ON OBA OF LAGOS, CHARGES TRADITIONAL RULERS ON SAFER SOCIETY

Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,Inspector General of Police, as part of his duty your has paid a courtesy visit on the esteemed Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Aremu, Osuolale Akiolu, at his palace in Iga Idunganran.

During the visit, the IGP extended his heartfelt appreciation to the royal father, who once served as an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in the Police Force prior to his retirement. The IGP commended Oba Rilwan Aremu for his unwavering support and dedication in ensuring the Police reaches and maintains its esteemed position in Nigeria’s security architecture. In response, the Oba of Lagos expressed his admiration for the Acting IGP’s remarkable achievements thus far.

He assured the IGP of the full cooperation of Lagos State’s obas, chiefs, and the entire community in the pursuit of effective policing and the safeguarding of our communities. Similarly, the IGP visited the Oniru of Iru kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, CON, who is also a retired police officer.

The IGP was accompanied on these visits by the Deputy Inspector General in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Abiodun Alabi, fdc, the AIG Zone 2, AIG Ali Mohd Ari, and various other senior officers in Lagos State. The IGP, while reaffirming his commitment to standardizing the police, charged the host traditional rulers and the traditional institutions in general, on inclusiveness in actualizing the principles of community policing in order to have a more secure and peaceful society in Nigeria.
