Dana Air has temporarily laid off its staff due to the probe by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA. This was disclosed to the public in a statement released by Kingsley Ezenwa, the head of corporate commission, on Saturday, May 11 2024.
The disclosure about the laying off of Dana Air staff, came in after the suspension by NCAA.
According to TheCable, Dana Air aircraft took off on Lagos airport’s domestic runway, and this made Aviation authorities to shift flight from the local airport to international terminal axis.
After the incident, Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation, directed the suspension of Dana Air and has begun investigations.
According to Ezenwa in the released statement, he reasserted that the airline’s decision is based on the current auditing process.
The statement read,”Dana Air has made the decision to temporarily disengage some staff members pending the conclusion of the audit.
“This decision has been made to ensure efficient management of resources and to facilitate a thorough review of operational procedures.
“The management of Dana Air extends its sincere appreciation to all staff members for their resilience and dedication during this period of uncertainty.
“It recognizes the difficulties that staff have had to endure and assures them that every effort is being made to resolve the situation promptly.
“We remain committed to providing updates and support to its staff throughout this process and While these challenges are being addressed, Dana Air has commenced talks with lessors and are currently engaging stakeholders on the progress made so far.
“Dana Air therefore urges for calm and understanding from our very dedicated staff for their altruism and stakeholders.”
The airline’s management also maintained that they are actively working toward addressing any concern and also plan to restart soon.
