The maiden edition of the Vice Chancellor’s Cup of the Elizade University was held amidst pomp and pageantry climaxing into Staff and Students March which ended in a 1-1.
Speaking after the match,Professor Kayode Amund said he was satisfied with the conduct of the match saying the match was fun packed as both staffs and Students were ready to slug it out and the zeal was high.
“I was highly enthused as the Students team was very technical and the staffsare also experienced, it was a good blend”
Amund who noted that subsequently, the concept will get better adding that the University has outstanding footballers that can represent the country nationally and internationally in sport competitions.
The Staff Coach,Dr Olugbenga Onile who expressed delight in the match that ended 1-1 saying the staffs did everything possible to show that they were not only relevant in lecture rooms and other areas of the University but also very active in Sport adding that next year,it will get better.
The Students coach,Olamilekan kolawole also spoke to Sparklight news that despite all the odds,he was confident that his team could score more that 1 but had to show some respect to their teachers.
Dignitaries present at the event include: Mr Adegbenro Omololu, Registrar,MrAjeigbe,Bursar,Professor Adeyemi Daramola,Academic Planning officer,Dr Wole Adamolekun,Chairman Sport Committee and HOD Mass Communication and a host of others.
