The Nigerian government has put a freeze on over $50 million in cryptocurrency that was traced to the wallets owned by certain individuals involved in the #EndBadGovernance protests across Nigeria.
The freezing was executed pursuant to a directive issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 9 by Justice Emeka Nwite.
This was revealed on Tuesday by Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser, at the inaugural meeting of the Council of State convened by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
They include $50m of cryptocurrency — $38m of which were blocked in four cryptocurrency wallets — and N4bn contributed by various political actors in Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Katsina.
