The Federal Government has approved a ₦712.26 billion project to completely overhaul Terminal One at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
This project is part of a larger ₦900 billion initiative aimed at transforming Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.

The renovation will involve dismantling the outdated terminal to its basic structure and installing new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has been awarded the contract for this project.

In addition to the Terminal One renovation, the Federal Executive Council has also approved the expansion of Terminal Two. This expansion includes the construction of a new apron, access roads, bridges, and other associated infrastructure.

To enhance security at the airport, a ₦49.9 billion project has been approved for the construction of a 14.6-kilometer perimeter fence.

The fence will be equipped with advanced security features, including an intrusion detection system, CCTV cameras, solar-powered floodlights, and a patrol road, all monitored from an advanced command center.
