The Federal Government has called on Nigeria Academia to key into research that would enable it proffer solutions to socio-economic and security problems.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made the call in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Management Team of the University of Abuja led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah.
The Minister noted that their job does not end in just training but in research and development, adding that it is through research that solution can be provided.
‘’Universities all over the world are not just meant to train people, they are meant to provide solutions to problems. Universities are meant to be repository of knowledge, where we can get solutions for both lingering and immediate problems” said the Minister.
Earlier, in his address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah, informed the Minister that the University has a Centre for Migration Studies.
The Centre, according to the Vice Chancellor, is a research centre that could assist the Government to formulate strategies and policies in identifying and solving migration and border issues.
