FG Debunks Circulating Ambassadorial Nominees’ List

By Damilare Adeleye

The federal government has disowned a purported list of ambassadorial nominees currently in circulation, describing the viral list as fake.

Acting spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, in a statement on Sunday, clarified that it is the prerogative of President Bola Tinubu to appoint ambassadors, which he has not done.

The Ministry was reacting to reports that the Nigerian government released a list of ambassadorial nominees.

The Ministry urged the general public to disregard claims on appointments of ambassadorial nominees.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public to kindly disregard the fake list of ambassadorial nominees, which is currently in circulation on some social media platforms.

“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that the appointment of ambassadors is the prerogative of Mr. President, and no such appointments have been made in that regard.

“The purported list should, therefore, be discountenanced,” the statement read.
