The Federal Government has flagged off the 2025–2026 wheat dry-season farming in Borno State, targeting 80,000 farmers across 16 states.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, said each farmer will be supported to cultivate half a hectare.

The Minister said that if everything goes as planned, the initiative will produce wheat worth more than 100 billion naira.
Borno State Governor, Professor Umara Zulum, appreciated the government’s intervention towards ensuring farmers enjoy maximum security to produce the food they need the most.
He said that under the 2025 wet-season farming, most farmers in the state produced food that would last them at least 12 to 18 months.
Six thousand farmers from the state are part of the wheat farming programme to cultivate 3,000 hectares.
