FG Set To Inaugurate 37-Man Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage

The Federal Government is set to inaugurate a 37-man Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage with a mandate to recommend a new National Minimum Wage for the Country.

This was disclosed in a statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation says that the inauguration of the Committee is sequel to the approval of President Bola Tinubu.
The inauguration is therefore, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 30th January, 2024 by 12:00 noon at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja.

The membership of the Committee which cuts across the Federal and State Governments, the Private Sector and the Organised Labour will be Chaired by Bukar Goni Aji, former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Representatives from the Federal Government include; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Wale Edu, Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget Economic Planning, Dr. Yemi Esan; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri; Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of SGF, Ekpo Nta; Chairman/CEO, NSIWC, will serve as Secretary.

Representatives from the State Government are; Mohammed Umar Bago, Governor of Niger State, representing North Central; Sen. Bala Mohammed, Governor Bauchi State- representing North East; Umar Dikko Radda, Governor of Katsina State, representing North West; Prof. Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, , representing South East; Sen. Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, representing South West, Mr. Otu Bassey Edet, Governor of Cross River State, representing the South South.
Meanwhile, The following members are selected from the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA); Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General, NECA; Mr. Chuma Nwankwo; Mr. Thompson Akpabio.

Members from the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) include Michael Olawale-Cole, National President; Ahmed Rabiu, National Vice President and Humphrey Ngonadi (NPOM), National Life President.

Representatives selected from the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprise (NASME) are Dr. Abdulrashid Yerima, President & Chairman of Council; Theophilus Nnorom Okwuchukwu.
Zonal Vice President, North West, Dr. Muhammed Nura Bello is representing the Private Sector.

From the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) are Human Resource Director, Nigerian Breweries;
Mrs. Grace Omo-Lamai, Director-General, MAN, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Managing Director, Dozzy Oil and Gas Limited. Lady Ada Chukwudozie.

From the organised labour, are, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Joe Ajaero, President NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, Comrade Prince Adeyanju Adewale; Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji; Comrade Benjamin Anthony and Prof. Theophilius Ndukuba.

Representative from the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) include Comrade Festus Osifo, President, TUC, Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, Deputy President I, TUC; Comrade Kayode Surajudeen Alakija, Deputy President II; Comrade Jimoh Oyibo, Deputy President. III; Comrade Nuhu Toro, Secretary-General and Comrade Hafusatu Shuaib, Chairperson Women Committee

Statement, however, advises members to be early to process their clearance at the Security Gate and should be seated at the Council Chamber by 11.30 am.
The statement indicates that a shuttle bus will be available at the Pilot Gate to convey members to the venue.
