Fire Engulfs Federal Research Office In Lagos, Millions Worth Property Damaged

Fire has razed the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) office located near Cappa Bus Stop in Oshodi, Lagos State, causing extensive property damage worth millions of naira.

The fire, which reportedly broke out around midnight on Christmas Day, was still being battled as of 4 a.m. on Boxing Day by the combined efforts of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA).

Eyewitnesses described the scene as harrowing, with flames tearing through the structure, leaving destruction in their wake.

“It was a heartbreaking sight.The fire seemed uncontrollable at first, but the fire service teams have been relentless in their efforts to contain it,” said a local resident.

Authorities are working to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby offices and buildings.

As at the time of this report, no casualties have been confirmed.

When asked about the cause of the fire, an official from LASEMA said, “Investigations are still ongoing to determine what triggered this unfortunate incident.”

As rescue operations continue, Lagosians are urged to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to carry out their duties effectively.
