Oladokun Ayomide, a final-year student of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been arrested for allegedly poisoning Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu, his girlfriend.
Mmasichukwu, a 300-level student of the school, was said to have visited Ayomide at his residence in Surulere, Abeokuta on Friday.
It was gathered that Mmasichukwu visited Ayomide’s home in the company of Semilore, her schoolmate.
Ayomide was said to have, however, administered a mixture of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unknown substance to the victims.
It was gathered that the victims lost consciousness after consuming the suspected poisonous substance and were immediately rushed to the hospital while Ayomide was arrested by the police authorities.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun state police command, confirmed the incident.
“The story of the poisoned student is true,” she said.
Odutola also provided an update on the case, revealing that the victims have chosen to forgive Ayomide, and the families have mutually agreed to move on.
She added that Mmasichukwu has recovered from the incident and she is doing fine.
“You know they are young people and there is what they call forgiveness. So, the parents have met and they have decided to just move ahead and the girl has recovered. She has been treated and she is fine,” she said.
