Students of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, Ogun State, have cried out over the incessant robbery attacks in their school.
During the latest attack, a student from the department of Public administration, identified as Segun, was shot dead on Friday night, December 1.
This led to a protest to show their displeasure that their hostels have become robbers’ den.
Students also express frustration over school’s inaction following their complaints; alleging sole response to issues is hiking school fees.
According to a student who spoke to Sparklightnews, he said the disturbance is severe, preventing students from having peaceful nights due to daily robberies in the town near the school.
He said further that the students are robbed daily and those who argue or drag their properties with the armed robbers are killed. We have lost our fellow students to these hardened criminals and the number is increasing everyday.
It was also learnt that female students are robbed, gang raped; some to death, others are recorded and blackmailed.
