After weeks of instability in fuel prices, the queues for petrol later became worrisome in some parts of the country on Sunday following the shutdown of many filling stations amid heightened expectations of an increase in the pump price of the product.
In the last week, many filling stations in Akure were selling 190 above and some were closed awaiting price increase.
In Lagos, the situation wasnt different as there were queues.
It was also learnt that Motorists besieged the few outlets that were open for business in Abuja, Nasarawa, Niger and Borno states, while some others that had dispensed petrol the previous day were locked on Sunday.
The drama started two weeks ago as queues of motorists were noticed in many locations.
However, oil marketers had previously raised concerns about petrol pricing by depot owners and how this affected petroleum products supply.
The queues reappeared on Saturday and Sunday, with only few filling stations noticed dispensing petrol while others remained shut.
According to some attendants who spoke to our correspondent in Akure,Ondo and Lagos mentioned that Nigerians should be expecting increase in the cost of the product from March.
This is coming a week after NNPC released a statement that Nigerians should not bother as petroleum price remains the same.
NNPC and IPMAN had issued out a warning to Nigerians on panic buying.
