How FUTA HOD made 300 Level Student commit suicide

A 300-level student of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Olona Oluwapelumi, has committed suicide at his residence in the Aule Area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The deceased, who was popularly called ‘Black’, was a Student at the Department of Industrial Design at the university.

The Student,Oluwapelumi is the financial Secretary of the department association and the treasurer didn’t resume early last year which made the President to appeal to deceased to receive the dues on behalf of the association.

Earlier this year,the department association requested for the sum of One hundred thousand from the deceased to embark on a project and he transferred the money through carbon according to his classmates but the money didnt get to the President’s account.

Following this happening, Olwapelumi was reported to the head of department with name revealed as Profesor Oladumiye Bankole according to website of FUTA who pressured him to pay the money or risk sanction.

In addition,the hod called the father of the deceased to report the son that he engaged in fraud.

As a result of this incidents,pelumi stopped attending classes due to the stigma and resorted to hanging himself to end the shame.

He was said to have hanged himself in his room outside the campus.

The deceased’s friends,Emoniyi Enoch on Saturday went to his room and discovered it was locked. After several calls without response, the door was broken and he was found hanged.

His body has been taken to the morgue and investigation has started to unravel the reasons behind his action, but it was a case of suicide.

The Student Union President,Jesunifemi Tenten Asoore confirmed the incident in a press release.

He said the association is saddened by the consent and is planning on sending a delegation to the family.
