IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Inspector-General of Police, on Monday decorated eight senior officers recently elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) during a ceremony held at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Addressing the gathering, the police chief described the event as more than a symbolic exercise, noting that promotion to the rank of DIG represents recognition of decades of dedication, professional excellence and leadership within the Force. He urged the officers to provide strong strategic direction, strengthen internal discipline and drive reforms that would make policing strategies more responsive to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

Olatunji Rilwan Disu further charged the newly promoted officers to leverage their vast experience in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration and accountability, while also inspiring confidence within the Force and building public trust.

The Inspector-General also expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support for the Police and commended the Police Service Commission for ensuring transparency and professionalism in the promotion process. He equally acknowledged the families of the promoted officers for their sacrifices and encouragement throughout the officers’ distinguished careers.
