Incessant Kidnappings: FUTO Asks Students To Shun Early Morning, Late Evening Movements Around University

Management of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri has directed students to shun unnecessary movements out and into the university between 6.00a.m. and 6.00p.m. to avoid falling victim into the hands of kidnappers.

In a circular issued by the University’s Register, Chiedozje Uba, the management expressed concern over recent kidnapping incidents along the Obinze-Thiagwa Road, which was close to the University’s main gate.

It also noted that the incidents often happen very early in the morning and late in the evening.

The circular dated September 10, and titled “INCIDENTS OF KIDNAPPINGS ALONG OBINZE-IHIAGWA ROAD” enjoined students to be vigilant and inform their parents, guardians of their movements.

The circular read, “Manegement of the University has noted recent kidnapping incidents along the Obinze-Thiagwa Road, very close to the University main gate. Management also noted that these incidents happen very early in the morning and late in the evening.

“Consequently, students are directed to shun unnecessary movements out/into the University between 6.00a.m. and 6.00p.m. to avoid falling victim to the activities of these hoodlums. Students are also enjoined to be vigilant and Inform their parents, guardians or any significant other of their movements.
