The National Industrial Court has barred the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress as well as their affiliates from embarking on any strike or industrial action.
Justice Benedict Kanyip, President of the Court, while ruling on Friday, ordered the unions to stop their planned nationwide strike.
It was learnt that the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice had filed an ex-parte application praying the court to stop the unions from embarking on the planned strike.
It would be recalled that NLC and TUC had announced to commence a nationwide industrial action starting on Tuesday, November 14, at midnight.
The strike action was to protest against the brutal attack on Comrade Joe Ajaero in Imo State where men of the Nigeria Police Force aided some thugs to beat the NLC President.
Members of all the affiliate unions of the two labour centres across the nation had been directed to withdraw their service starting from November 14, until otherwise directed.
The NLC General Secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, reiterated this in Abuja at a press conference where Joe Ajaero addressed the press on his ordeal at the hands of his adductors in Owerri.
