The earlier planned visit of the President Muhammadu Buhari to Ogun State was earlier scheduled for the third week in December,2021 before it was postponed until a new date was communicated to the Governor for January 13,2022.
Our Reporter learnt that the President will be commissioning some projects including Gateway City Gate, Sagamu -Abeokuta Expressway and street lights,kuto-Ijebu-Ode Mojoda-Epe expressway and two housing estates both in Kobape and Oke Mosan,Abeokuta.
Investigations revealed that the street lights installed by the Governor would be powered by Generators. The Governor had purchased over 13 Mikano Generators stationed at each intervals on the Expressway to impress the President sighted by our correspondent.
But the main concern is how different is the street light projects from other past administration which did not last a week after the commissioning.
Many Ogun residents who spoke to our correspondent were worried about the action of the Governor and maintained that Generating set is not the best way to power the light when we have Solar power, turbine and other special arrangement to make the project worthwhile.
It was also gathered that buyers at the Kobape Estate who have fully paid and demanded to celebrate Christmas and New year in their house were denied because of President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s visit.
There are other findings about the quality of projects which the governor intends to commission.
The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun while speaking at the special service to mark the armed forces remembrance day at the Cathedral church of St Peter said anyone caught vandalising Government property-Street light pole will be punished.
“I will be sending a Bill to the House of Assembly for a punitive measure for anyone caught vandalizing public utilities.
Let parents warn their children and wards. I won’t entertain any call from parents whenever anyone is caught in the act of cultism, vandalism, banditry or any other criminal activities.
“We will find them out and the full weight of the law would be brought upon them. We will make an example of them”, the governor stressed.
