The Lagos State Police Command has heightened security across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, deploying personnel and operational assets to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period.

The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the extensive deployment in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The Command said the security arrangement comprises conventional police officers, tactical teams and intelligence operatives, supported by an enhanced intelligence network to monitor activities that could threaten public peace.

It added that Marine Police personnel have also been mobilised to intensify patrols along waterways to prevent criminal infiltration.

To ensure visibility and maintain order, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of tactical units have been directed to sustain routine patrols, particularly in busy and vulnerable areas across Lagos State.

The police also deployed additional personnel for traffic control on major highways, inner roads and congestion-prone areas to ease movement during the celebrations.

Security coverage has further been strengthened at Eid prayer grounds, mosques, markets, recreational centres and other public places expected to witness large gatherings.

Jimoh assured residents and visitors of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property before, during and after the festivities.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.

The Command reiterated its readiness to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents throughout the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
