The Department of Mass Communication, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), has congratulated renowned filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi, on his well-deserved selection to serve on the International Engagement Committee of the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
According to a statement signed by Dr Steven Anu’ Adesemoye, Head, Department of Mass Communication, the appointment is a testament to Mr. Odugbemi’s outstanding contributions to the film industry and his tireless efforts at promoting Nigerian cinema globally,

“This prestigious recognition is a testament to your contributions to contemporary African cinema and your unwavering dedication to the film industry. Your appointment to this esteemed committee, responsible for shaping the Academy’s global engagement strategy, underscores the international appreciation of your expertise and selfless service.”
“As a respected filmmaker, producer, and educator, Mr. Odugbemi’s expertise will undoubtedly enrich the Academy’s international engagement initiatives. Moreover, his involvement will also create opportunities and elevate the continent’s cinematic landscape.
“The Department of Mass Communication, LASUSTECH, celebrates this milestone achievement and reaffirms its commitment to nurturing talented young stars who will make meaningful impacts in the media and the film industries.“It would be recalled that Odugbemi’s appointment was conveyed through a letter by Peter Devlin, Governor, International Engagement Committee Chair, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, aka, Oscars, the 97-year-old world’s preeminent movie-related organisation comprising of over 10,000 accomplished individuals working in cinema,” the statement read.
