In the aftermath of the passing of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, former Governor of Ondo State, the Akeredolu family expresses profound gratitude for the outpouring of support received during this challenging time. The family, in a recent statement released by Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu jnr. extends heartfelt thanks to friends, associates, and well-wishers for their overwhelming love and compassion.
The statement reads, “To those who took the time to visit us in Ibadan and Owo, we extend our heartfelt appreciation. Your presence brought solace to our hearts, and your invaluable support lifted our spirits.”
“Our gratitude also extends to the esteemed political leaders, revered royal fathers, devout religious leaders, community pillars, heads of security agencies, dedicated unionists, civil servants, public officials, student leaders, and women groups, as well as politicians from across party lines, who have shown us love and sympathy during this challenging period.”
The family has invited all to join them in commemorating the life of their late Patriarch through a series of events. Beginning on Thursday, February 15, 2024, with the Winning Soul Crusade at MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, at 5 pm, the schedule includes various tributes, services, and ceremonies.
On Friday, February 16, a Jumat Service will take place at Akure Central Mosque starting at 2 pm. The following day, Saturday, February 17, the Loyola Day of Tributes is scheduled at Loyola College Hall, Old Ife Rd, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State.
On Sunday, February 18, the OAU Night of Tributes will be held at OAU Secretariat, Old Ife Road, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, from 4 pm to 6 pm. Monday, February 19, features a Special Court Session, NBA Tribute Session, and a Service of Songs and Night of Tributes.
The subsequent days involve a Commendation Service, Ajabue (Traditional Rites), Lying in State, and an Evening of Tributes. The funeral events will culminate on Friday, February 23, with the Funeral Service at St Andrews Church, Imola Street, Owo, followed by interment and reception.
Throughout the week-long commemoration, the family also emphasizes the importance of prayers, support, and encouragement from well-wishers.
