Man gets 5 years jail in Abuja for Obstructing EFCC Operative

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Abuja Zonal Command on Monday, October 4, 2021 secured the conviction of one Usman Abdulkareem. Usman before Justice A.O Musa of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Apo Abuja a one count charge of obstruction.

The charge reads, “that you Usman Abdulkareem sometime on 29 June, 2021 at Palm Garden Estate within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, willfully obstructed one Detective Chalya Gurumnaan and other operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on investigative duties in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 38 (2) and punishable under Section 38 (2)(b) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act of 2004”.

Usman pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 5 years in prison
