MAPOLY announces resumption of Academic Activities following Governor Abiodun’s Intervention

The managemen of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has announced resumption of its suspended academic activities.

According a statement released on Saturday by Elewodalu O. O, the Registrar of the institution, academic activities will commence effectively from November 20th.

It could be recalled staff unions of the institution, including the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), had on October 4, embarked on an indefinite strike in response to the non-payment of three months’ salaries.

However, on Thursday, Comrade Adeleye Tajudeen, Chairman of Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) confirmed the suspension of the industrial action.

It was reported that the resolution to suspend the strike emerged following a congress held earlier on Thursday morning.

It was also learnt the development came after the intervention of Governor Dapo Abiodun with a payment of 480 million Naira to the unions.
