NAFDAC Destroys Fake Drugs Worth One Billion Naira

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NAFDAC) has destroyed expired, unregistered and banned medicines removed from idumota open drug market, estimated street value at one hundred billion Naira (100, 000,000,000).

The destruction took place on Saturday at the Akinyele dump site in Ibadan the Oyo state capital.
Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, director general of NAFDAC who was represented by Mrs. Yedunni Adenuga, director Narcotics substances stress that the agency is committed in ensuring that food, drugs medical devices, chemicals, packaged water and drinks are wholesome and effective for human consumption.

She said during the three weeks exercise several suspects were apprehended, while after thorough investigations are over they will have their day in court. Pharm Shaba Mohammed urge Nigerians to partner with the agency in the fight against unwholesome drugs and products to safe guide the health of all citizens.
Some of the critical stakeholders present at the burning of the drugs also enjoin the general public to give useful and credible information to law enforcement agencies to rid the society of fake substances.
