NATION-WIDE PROTEST; THE CONs OUTWEIGHS THE PROs

The government has heard the yearnings of the people loud and clear. However, the call for a nation-wide protest at this juncture is not only premature but also potentially harmful to our collective progress. It is evident that some politicians are pushing for this protest not out of genuine concern for the country, but rather to score cheap political points. This self-serving agenda is counterproductive and undermines the real issues at hand.

The protest is needless given the various speedy interventions by the federal government on pressing matters such as the minimum wage and local government autonomy. These steps are significant and demonstrate a commitment to addressing the concerns of the populace. It is crucial that we give these measures time to take effect rather than resorting to actions that could destabilize the nation.

We must not be insensitive to the havoc that such protests might wreak, especially considering the disastrous outcomes of past protests. The violence, destruction, and loss of lives are stark reminders of the potential consequences of unchecked public demonstrations.

Concerned citizens and leaders of thought should desist from heating up the polity. Instead, they should proffer workable and reasonable ideas to the government, engaging in constructive dialogue rather than inciting citizens against the government. Our focus should be on fostering unity and pursuing peaceful solutions that benefit all Nigerians.

Let us channel our energies towards building a more inclusive and responsive government through dialogue and collaboration, rather than through destructive protests.
